Exciting changes at Fiera Magazine

14th November 2016

We’ve got some exciting changes planned for Fiera Magazine and we wanted you to be the first to know (well, the second to know – an email has just gone out to all our lovely subscribers and Kickstarter backers!)…

We have published four issues over two years and in that time, two things have happened – we’ve learnt a lot, and the design industry has changed. So to reflect those things, Fiera Magazine is changing too.

1. It turns out that June and December are really silly times of year to publish a design magazine(!), so we’re changing our publishing schedule to align with Milan and New York Design Weeks (April / May) and the London Design Festival (September). This means issue 05 will now be out in April instead of December as planned.

2. A change in our distribution model will see the magazine distributed free to trade at design festivals worldwide – you can still subscribe online and buy single issues through shops in 12 countries worldwide.

3. The editorial focus is shifting slightly too. We are moving our focus from new designers to the game-changing ideas they, and others, are sharing. We are widening our focus from four design festivals per issue to a range of fairs, festivals and conferences, enabling us to explore the full gamut of issues and ideas that are shaping the future. And we are doubling down on our efforts to explore, analyse and provoke debate through the lenses of editorial writing, creative writing, design fiction, illustration and photography. Our ambition is that Fiera will become the go-to publication for in-depth discussion and debate about the design issues of the day.

4. In response to feedback from the brands who have generously supported us from day one, we are also making more opportunities to collaborate with us available. A range of advertising propositions will enable brands large and small to drive traffic to their trade show activities or raise their profile during the shows they can’t attend. Additional collaborative opportunities include bespoke events, curated exhibitions and cross-platform activities with our sister brand confessions of a design geek.

I hope that all sounds as exciting to you as it does to us! If you’ve got any comments, queries or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. And thank you so much for your continued support – we really couldn’t do it without you. Until Issue 05…!
